From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The National Zoo and Aquarium is a privately owned zoo and aquarium in the Australian capital city Canberra. It is located at the western end of Lake Burley Griffin near Scrivener Dam.
The combination of zoo and aquarium is unique to Australia. The zoo has both Australian endemic species and introduced species including the largest collection of big cats in Australia, including a tigon. The facility is also involved in a number of breeding programs for endangered species.
The zoo is owned by business-man Richard Tindale.
