[edit] Flag of Singapore
I've removed this because there is no mention in its own article that it was inspired by Turkey's flag. Leftist 17:39, 22 March 2006 (UTC)
- I believe it is modelled after the flags traditionally used by the Malay people and their various states, which have the same origin as the Turkish flag, viz the Star and crescent which was the Byzantine symbol but was appropriated by the Ottomans, and later copied by non-Arab Muslim peoples ruled by non-Muslims in their nationalist struggles for independence. // Big Adamsky • BA's talk page 17:49, 22 March 2006 (UTC)

- I've never heard of these flags used by the Malay people but I suppose it is possible that the flag of Singapore was modelled after Turkey's. Leftist 18:30, 22 March 2006 (UTC)
