North Carolina's 12th congressional district is the most litigated district in the country. It lies along I-85 and is made up of predominantly black neighborhoods in Charlotte, Winston-Salem, Greensboro, Lexington, Salisbury, and High Point.
Its current representative is Democrat Melvin Watt, who was first elected in 1992.
