North Sea Beach Marathon
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
North Sea Beach Marathon is a annual Danish marathon which takes place at the westcoast of Jutland. It takes place in the beginning of July, every year. It is one of the only running events in the world, where you only run on sand. Beside the classical marathon distance, there is also a half-marathon, 10 km and 5 km.
Running on sand is very demanding on your body, especially when you fininsh in Hvide Sande where the sand feels like deep snow. This means that you should not get to high hopes for a personal record. The timelimit for the marathon is 7 hours.
The arrangers invited Lance Armstrong to participate in the 2007 event, but he decided to turn down the offer.
