Hi, I joined you wikipedians in October 2003. I contribute to Wikipedia, the global encyclopedia, free and compiled by the world, information in its habitat.
[edit] Language focus
|
I focus on contributing to the English Wikipedia (community portal) rather than the Swedish Wikipedia (community portal), because I prefer to expand on content that's usually more developed, instead of writing or translating content when I know another source has a much more complete version in an international language. Otherwise it feels like I'm doing redundant work, although I understand some Swedes, although quite few these days, have very limited English knowledge. In some cases, I discuss things on the Swedish version if it's domestic matters, but for general subjects I tend to end up working on the English version.
Maybe some Swedes dislike this stance, and feel I'm worsening the quality of the Swedish Wikipedia by being fairly active but contributing to another language, despite having Swedish as a native language and being more than able to improve the situation there. But it's a choice I've made anyway, and my honest reason behind the decision is given above; simply that I prefer doing more for the international community and expanding on often more sizable articles than writing a lot of stubs that are accessible by basically only one country.

[edit] Useful Wikipedia-related pages
Just listing some helpful pages for Wikipedia that I've found here for my own sake. ;-)
- IP2Location -- 20 free IP lookups per day to find areas and ISP owners of addresses. Useful for Wikipedia vandal lookups.
[edit] To do
- Parts of this list may be outdated. The entries are used purely as reminders from the time I wrote them, not as commentary on the state of current articles.
- Tablify the various display standards in computer display standard and improve layout?
- Remove redundancy at the AMD topic (see also its discussion).
- Improve the Windows XP topic, especially regarding facts about OS features. Maybe make it look more similar to the Mac OS X article?
- WikiBooks? Guild Wars Strategy Guide? Software Guide? Anti-spam Guide?
- Galaxy morphological classification?
- ESC winner maintenance; see also ESC Winners for start page.
