[edit] Members
These are the members of the Order of the Law. Though most of them do not adhere to a Good alignment, most of them set a standard as to how characters of that alignment should act.
[edit] Daven Almagic
Daven Almagic |
|
Characteristics |
Affiliations |
Order of the Law, The Military of St. Elventine |
Abilities |
Fighting prowess, weapon specialization, has very high charisma, also has knowledge of other races |
|
Daven Almagic is the leader of the Order of the Law and analogous to Roy Greenhilt. As an elven fighter and a former member of the elven military, Daven knows a great deal about the outside (i.e. human) world. However, much like Roy, Daven is oftentimes taken aback by the actions of his colleauges, most notably the "Mysterious Person" who enjoys questioning his leadership.
Daven has most recently found an ally in Davrin Ursefrane, the leader of the Order of Good (usually called the "Sistenn Band" by the characters) and a fellow elf. Davrin is much like Daven and has had to deal with a lot of incompetence. The two look forward to fighting side-by-side in the upcoming battle with Martin the Wizard. His spiritual embodiment (as seen in Strip #53) is that of Destiny; however, according to Destiny, Daven has not yet fulfilled his destiny which is to defeat Martin once and for all.
Recently[1], Daven has been haunted by dreams that his team will have to save Silventread Firebane's Order of Chaos from Darkness. He fears that he will have to fight Silven's team since the latter will not appreciate being saved.
[edit] Silverhead Ragingfire

Characteristics |
Affiliations |
Order of the Law, League of Thieves |
Abilities |
Sneak attack, love of gold, can disable dungeon traps |
|
Silverhead Ragingfire is the headstrong male human rogue of the Order of the Law. Coming from a relatively poor family, Silver (as he is often called) learned how to "rob from the rich and give to the poor", with "the poor" being himself and his family. When it came time for Silver to leave his family, his mother gave him two parting gifts: a silver cloak and his trademark "flying" dagger.[2][3] Character-wise, Silver seems to be a combination of the Order of the Stick's Haley Starshine and the Light Warriors' Red Mage in terms of personality and overall outlook on life. He thinks very highly of himself, especially when in combat (first seen in Comic #21 during the OotL's first serious battle), but he cares deeply for his friends, especially his leader Daven.
Silver has found an enemy in Silventread Firebane, the leader of the evil Order of Chaos. A human rogue much like Silver (though recently having multiclassed to sorcerer), Silventread (often just called Silven) originated from a group of warriors whom had conquered half the continent and were planning to take over Silver's village. The warriors were foiled by Darklight Ragingfire, Silver's ancestor and predecessor as Bearer of the Silver Cloak; to this day, Silven's kind and Silver's people have an utter hatred of each other, represented in the comic by the fierce rivalry between the two rogues. As seen in Strip #53, he has a spiritual embodiment from a city resembling Sigil, represented by the character Friendship of the Angel Trio.
Mysta |
|
Characteristics |
Affiliations |
Order of the Law |
Abilities |
Powerful and destructive magic, knowledge of deadly spells, a well-hidden evil streak |
|
The only female in the Order of the Law, the half-elf wizard Mysta is a rather snappy character. Despite calling herself "True Neutral", she has often displayed a tendency towards evil. An example of this is in Strip #18, where Mysta attempts to cast a "Slay Living" spell on an evil female assassin named Dimon (who later would face the new, improved Order of Chaos) disobeying Daven's orders to keep her alive. Mysta is stopped from killing the assassin outright by a "Hold Person" spell from a furious Mysterious Person, who is angered that Mysta would try to kill a defenseless human, evil or not. Since then, Mysta has tried to keep in her evil tendencies and strive to truly be True Neutral, though she clearly enjoys the destructive magic spells that she can access.
[edit] Mysterious Person

Characteristics |
Affiliations |
Order of the Law, Vecna |
Abilities |
Healing magic, can turn undead |
|
The peculiar hooded figure known only as the "Mysterious Person" (or MP for short) is the one character whom no one seems to understand (which is just the way (s)he wants it). (S)he is known to be a fiendish cleric of the power-hungry Undying King. However, despite this, the Person's powers all appear to have good effects; (s)he can also turn undead at will. Like Sabine of the Linear Guild, the Mysterious Person can shapeshift but unlike Sabine, rarely does so. (S)he does not seem to be able to drain energy like Sabine does, but it is more than likely that (s)he refuses to use this power in the presence of his/her teammates. The Mysterious Person is silent most of the time, though is quite outspoken on the rare occassions (s)he does speak. (S)he develops rivalries easily, such as the one with Shadow Demon of the Order of Chaos, who is his/her opposite number and also serves the Arch-Lich (another of the Undying King's many names). Similar to the Order of the Stick's Vaarsuvius, the Mysterious Person's gender remains unknown. The main reason he/she serves the Undying King and joined the Order of Law in the first place is to seek out the Hand of the Undying King in order to gain its powers for him/herself (also, the Arch-Fiends sent him/her to Earth for this reason); (s)he possesses a knife whose main purpose will be to cut off his/her left hand when (s)he retrieves the Hand, though (s)he on rare occassions will use the knife as a melee weapon.[4] When the Order of the Law found a cave occupied by a vicious, but cultured dragon where the Hand of the Arch-Lich was said to be hidden, the Order fought the monster while the Mysterious Person searched for the Hand, but (s)he didn't manage to find it before the Dragon surrendered. S(he) received a strict lecture from Daven on deserting the team for this, much to his/her dismay.
The Order of the Law have arrived at the city of Rune (the Mayhem & Magic equivalent to Sigil), where the Mysterious Person met the city's ruthless dictator, the Madam of Murder. Impressed by the Mysterious Person's knack for stinging insults and destructive magic, the Madam of Murder made a deal with MP, the details of which are yet unknown. However, Mysterious Person has revealed[5]to his/her teammates that the deal has something to do with the Hand of the Undying King (a fact that only angered Daven since MP had kept it from them for so long).
Spoilers end here.
When the Order of the Law met with the Oracle at the Temple of Rune, MP was the third OotL member (after Mysta and Silverhead) to ask a question of the Oracle. In response to his/her sarcastic quip about an item of greater power than the Hand of the Arch-Lich, the Oracle mentioned two other artifacts related to the Hand: the Eye of the Arch-Lich and the Destroyer's Sword. Mysterious Person now has his/her sights set on acquiring these items once (s)he obtains the Hand from the Madam of Murder. When the Order of the Law discovered Martin's castle in the Material Plane, the Mysterious Person became enraged when (s)he saw that Martin now owned the Hand of the Arch-Lich, which the wizard put in place of his own hand, which he had lopped off with a sword borrowed from Darkness.
