Old Oak Common
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Old Oak Common is an area of London in between Harlesden and Acton best known for its railway depots, particularly the now defunct Old Oak Common TMD. Further south is an open area Wormwood Scrubs Park and the well known prison.
The area is also the location where two GWR main lines bifurcate: the 1838 route to Reading via Slough, and the 1906 New North Main Line via Greenford to Northolt Junction, the start of the Great Western and Great Central Joint Line. Only the former is in use for regular passenger service, with the latter being used by freight trains and ECS movements.
