Talk:Oligarquia
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Should be deleted or renamed... "oligarchy" is an abstract concept. It does not matter that 80% of Argentines would agree on this characterization... it is a characterization, not facts. It is a fact, though, that foreign enterprises were allowed to build the railways, but given the fact that Argentina had the money to pay for them, and no Argentine company had any experience with building railways, it was the sound business decision so as to allow the pampas exports to start flowing faster... haha, also an opinion. See? Beware. elpincha 13:35, 2 October 2006 (UTC)
Many countries and nations were (or are) oligarchies through human history. It seems a bit selfish that we appropiate the word just to describe argentine history. Elpincha is right, I think this should be moved to Oligarchy and replaced with a redirect or disambiguation page.
I don't agree with the railroads commentary, though. Having our railroads planned by foreign powers is what prevented us from consolidating a strong internal market and achieving faster industrialization, and doomed us to the role of subservient agroexporters in the international division of labour. --Lobizón 00:59, 6 October 2006 (UTC)
- Suggest deleting. If suggestion not accepted, maybe renaming to Argentine oligarchy. elpincha 18:04, 6 October 2006 (UTC)
