[edit] Section headings

I added a history heading that somebody deleted. OK...perhaps history isn't the best fit for the content, but there does need to be some section headings, because it makes no sense for there to be a TOC way down just before the Awards section. Any ideas about how this article can be better divided? - Cafemusique 20:42, 15 Oct 2004 (UTC)

[edit] Speculation on actors

Actors who have participated in taping but not aired aren't current cast members. They will be when they get aired. What if someone important in the plot dies? How can one be sure the previously taped episodes won't be revised or re-recorded? The same priniciple applies for actors that are leaving. Perhaps something could happen that would postpone the leaving of the character for another month. S/he would still exist, but not be shown. Encyclopedias contain facts, not speculation. --jag123 08:35, 9 Mar 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Sammy David Jr

I removed Sammy David Jr. from the Emmy winners list since according to soapcentral.com and wikipedia that category was one by a guy from Days of our Lives ( it is incorrectly listed on imdb.com) User:Dowew March 27th 2005

[edit] Farley Granger

I have removed Farley Granger from the Daytime Emmy winners list because according to Soap Central The Daytime Emmys did not yet have a supporting actor category in 1977 and he was nominated as "Outstanding Actor in a Daytime Drama Series" loosing to Val dufour. See this page for more info. If anyone can come up with alternate data let me know. For now I am also removing him from the Category:Daytime Emmy Award winners User:Dowew May 29th 2005.

[edit] Split?

The page is becoming a little long. Should I put the awards section on a new page, or move the history onto a new page? --JamesB3 6 July 2005 03:27 (UTC)

[edit] Contract Status?

Does anyone know Paul Satterfield's status for certain? ABC does not list him with the contract players, but they don't list him with the recurring players either. D'Amico 19:51, 7 December 2005 (UTC)

Yes PS is on contract. He is featured in the opening montage. Recurring actors aren't. DtownG 12:30, 9 December 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Patricia Elliot

Patricia Elliot is no longer on contract. She's been on recurring status for the past two years. DtownG 14:56, 13 December 2005 (UTC)

[edit] POV

This passage in particular has a very bad problem with POV. Say what you will about Paul Rauch, but keep feelings out of this and don't attack the poor man. This is an encyclopedia, not a fancyclopedia. Please help with me to reword this entire section:

OLTL became a larger-than-life campfest in the late 80's, with executive producer Paul Rauch ignoring past diversity (Carla and her mother were dumped from the show, as Ellen Holly recounted in her autobiography) in favor of time travel (Clint went back to the Old West), a trip underground (half the cast went to Eterna), and a slew of exploits by vixens such as Tina (Andrea Evans, Karen Witter, Krista Tesreau) and Gabrielle (Fiona Hutchison). The two even had a poor imitation of the Karen/Jenny baby switch storyline. Other fan favorites were bad boy Max Holden (James DePaiva) and soap actress Megan (Jessica Tuck), who was revealed to be the long-lost daughter of Viki. Rauch's peak of ratings success came in 1987 when Viki "died" and saw many of her deceased friends, relatives and foes in Heaven (a floating spaceship); the show went to #1 for that week. Rauch had notorious rivalries with a number of talented actresses; many viewers felt he ran Robin Strasser off the show and eliminated formerly important families like the Woleks. In 1991, faced with falling ratings and poor quality, ABC fired him.. Mike H. That's hot 23:15, 10 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Spencer Truman & Todd Jr. Insanity

Someone needs to add this recent plot stuff to the plot-history. Yep. I am too lazy to be doing so... Feb 18, 2006

[edit] Wortham Krimmer as Rev. Andrew Carpenter

About.com [1] has stated that Wortham Krimmer will return in May. They continue to say that his return: "Will it be for a wedding or a funeral -- or both?" --Yllianos 17:51, April 17 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Senior Cast Members

I was under the impression that to be a "senior cast member" according to Wikipedia, you had to be around since the show's inception. Since the only one coming close is Erica Slezak, should she alone be the senior cast member? Just a question. John D'Adamo 18:41, 26 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Paul Satterfield - out?

Someone edited the article, putting PS under "comings & goings," yet I haven't heard anything announcing this. If someone can provide a source, please do...else it should probably be removed. DtownG 12:33, 28 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Brittany Underwood

I just wanted to say that I read in the latest Soap Opera Weekly that the actress, who plays Starr's school friend, Langston, has recently been put on contract. It says something to the effect that we'll be seeing more of her as she's just been put on contract.

[edit] Cast List

I am curious as to why the castlist section for this article has dissapeared. Gregor_The_Guy 12:05 P.M. 27 October 2006

[edit] Character links

Someone has linked all character names in the lists on the main page, which is good policy, but in the case of a soap that's been on for almost 40 years results in a lot of red links. Plus, as the History sections are expanded the problem gets worse. My suggestion is that we start creating "Family" articles for some of the characters no longer on the show who are notable but not necessarily worthy of their own article at this point, and redirect these characters there. For example, The Woleks — Larry and Karen perhaps deserve their own articles in the future, but the primary focus right now is probably on current characters, so they as well as Danny, Vince, Anna, Wanda etc. can have a home article. This would also work for the Sanders, Vernons etc. As a matter of fact, even Buchanan, Lord and Cramer family pages would provide a central place for misc. family members and stubs (like, Victor and Meredith Lord probably don't need their own articles). These family pages would also include links to major characters like Viki, of course. Take a look at House Corrino for one example. TAnthony 19:37, 21 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Catherine Hickland

Hickland keeps getting put back into the current cast section, but as far as I know she is still no longer on contract. The entire reason the Recurring section exists is for this purpose. Someone recently changed "Current contract cast members" to "Current cast members"; reverting this might make it more clear but it seems like the other shows don't spell it out that clearly either. FYI, "Contract" and "Recurring" is the actual terminology used in daytime to note a performer's status. TAnthony 18:43, 3 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Coming and going

I am wondering why there are constantly edits/reverts in this section regarding ridiculous minutae like whether or not to include the year, or "Temp." vs. "Temporarily" or even "Temp. Returns" vs. "Returns Temp." Is there some "standard" that should be followed, or are 15 people going to rewrite every new entry back and forth? Or can we at least agree on one way of doing this?
