Operation cedar

Project Cedar Project Cedar (also known as Operation Cedar) was a top secret World War II project conducted by Douglas Aircraft Company and the War Department of the United States. Civilian workers under contract with Douglas Aircraft worked alongside American soldiers, a detachment of the USSR Air Corps, Royal Air Force personnel, Iranians, Iraqi, Arabians, and Indians to establish an aircraft depot in Iran. Aircraft parts were sent to the base at Abadan,Iran, where mechanics assembled them into airplanes. The airplanes were then flown in to Archangel, Russia.
A similar secret operation, Project 19, was set up in Egypt.
