The Patuxent High School NJROTC was formed in 1996 under the Direction of Commander Michael L. Dvorsky and Master Gunnery Sergeant Charlie McCoy. Currently the Company is led by Commander Michael L. Dvorsky and Senior Chief Darrin Nelson. There are currently 100 Cadets enroled in the program and they are led by Cadet Lieutenant Commander Christina Devereux and Cadet Lieutenant William Bankhead.
[edit] Distinctions
Last year (2005-06) Patuxent was selected by the Area 5 Manager Commander Hayes as being the best unit in Area 5. Patuxent has held this honor for the past 5 years.
Patuxent NJROTC has the distinction of holding the high schools only two National Championships. One for its 2003 JROTC Orienteering National Championship and the other for its 2006 National Championship in Armed and Unarmed Standard Drill.
[edit] Recent History
The Unit recently participated in its Regional Competition where it placed Third Overall. The Company is currently the alternate team to go to NAS Pensacola where the Navy Nationals Competition is held. On March 31st and April 1st the Orienteering team participated in the DVOA Interscholstic National Championships. The team place 9th in the nation among High School Varsity teams and 6th among JROTC teams. This was the teams best finish in the Interscholastic Championships since it placed first in 2003.

The NJROTC has many teams which cadets can actively participate on. The Drill Team,Color Guard, Air Rifle/Pistol Team, Orienteering Team, Raider Challenge Team. The Unit actively participates against other High Schools in may intramural sports such as Basketball, Soccer, Futsol, Softball, and Volleyball.
