Paul Pearson (British murder victim)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Paul Pearson (born 1984, died 14 August 1991) was the victim of a high profile murder in Britain.
The third of four children born to Ken and Julie Pearson, he was born in Middlesbrough but moved to the coastal village of Markse in July 1991 because his parents felt that it was a safer area for children to be brought up in.
Paul disappeared while riding his BMX push-bike near his home on 14 August 1991. His body was found in a ravine two days later and local man Richard Blenkey, 33, was quickly charged with his murder.
Blenkey admitted murdering Paul Pearson at his trial on 26 October 1992 and was sentenced to life imprisonment with a recommendation that he should serve at least 20 years before being considered for parole. Blenkey was influenced into admitting the murder after police received letters that he had sent to "pen-pal" Bernard O'Mahoney while on remand.
