Paul Zammit

Paul Zammit (b. 28 April 1941) is a former Australian Liberal politician.
Zammit was born in Alexandria, Egypt. He was first the state member for Burwood from 1984 to 1988 then after Burwood was abolished, he became state member for Strathfield from 1988 to 1996. In 1991, he was made Assistant Minister to the Premier Nick Greiner and held that post when John Fahey took over as Premier in 1992.[1] In 1996, he stepped down to contest the federal Division of Lowe which he won. However, he resigned from the Liberal Party in 1998 after disagreeing with his government's decision to change flight paths and increase the number of planes flying over Strathfield electorate. As an independent, he tried to hold his seat at the 1998 election but lost out to Labor's John Murphy.[2]
