"Pilot (The King of Queens)" is the pilot episode of the sitcom The King of Queens. It was aired on CBS on September 21, 1998.
[edit] Plot
Carrie gets Doug his 70" big screen tv and he turns the basement into his "hangout" room. Shortly after, Sara, Carrie's sister, tells them that their father's wife has died and Carrie's sister, Sara, moves in to let their father Arthur have his space. Later, Arthur tries to cook on a 40 year old hot plate which burns his house down. He moves in with Doug and Carrie and things go hectic. Doug then lays down the rules for his house.

Doug's friends, Richie Ianucchi, Spence Olchin, and Deacon Palmer, were supposed to be a one-time thing, but they became part of the main cast.
