Pinhoe railway station
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Pinhoe railway station is a suburban railway station in the city of Exeter, Devon. It re-opened in the 1980s, having been closed by the Beeching Axe, and serves the development on the eastern edge of the city around the village of Pinhoe. The station is operated by South West Trains services on the London Waterloo-Exeter route. East of the station the line becomes single track as far as Yeovil Junction (with passing places at Chard Junction and Honiton). The Station has seen an increase in services with the opening of the Met Office headquarters and EDF Energy's new offices a short distance away as part of the transport plan to cope with these large developments.
[edit] Sunday services
Until recently, there was no Sunday service provided to/from this railway station - the nearest alternative being Exeter Central. It has been stated that under ticketting arrangements inherited from British Rail, that passengers holding tickets to/from this station could board or alight at Exeter Central or Pinhoe on Sundays, when no service was provided; this has not been confirmed officially, since privatisation.
The sole operator of services to this station, Southwest Trains, has reinstated a limited Sunday service of two trains in each direction, per day. These are:

1040 to Paignton 1240 to Paignton
