Plant Bowen Coal

Plant Bowen is a coal-fired, steam-turbine electric generating facility located in Euharlee, GA - approximately 30 miles northwest of Atlanta, GA. It is well-known in the Northwest Georgia area due to its two 305 meter exaust stacks. The plant also has four 100 meter cooling towers which mistakenly give Plant Bowen the appearance of a nuclear power plant. Additional construction of environmentally-friendly exaust scrubbers are adding two additional 200 meter stacks to the plant site. Plant Bowen one of the largest electric generating facilities in the United States.
Plant Bowen is owned and operated by Georgia Power Company, a subdivision of Southern Company.
