- On 26 July 2004 Nestlé lost its appeal against an earlier High Court rejection of the proposal "to register the sweet's shape, without the word Polo embossed on it, as a trademark" .
- In 2004, Nestlé were making around 38 million Polos each day - meaning that 440 were consumed every second.
- There is a recurrent theme of polos in the TV programme The Mighty Boosh.
