Porter Ridge High School is a high school located in Indian Trail, North Carolina. It opened in August, 2005, and cost $30 million to construct. It is part of a 183-acre campus including Porter Ridge Middle School and Elementary School. The principal of the school is Don Novak.
The school mascot is a pirate, assumed to be Blackbeard, and the school colors are purple, black, and silver. Its rival schools are Piedmont High School, Sun Valley High School and Monroe High School, mainly because they are the schools many of the students attended before Porter Ridge was built. Bonterra Stadium is where many of the sporting events take place such as football, track, etc. The school is a member of the South Piedmont Conference. The school also contains an auditorium, gymnasium, media center, and a cafeteria, known as the "Commons Area."
The school is divided into three wings: E, F, and G. Other rooms around the main building are labeled A, B, and D. Students are assigned homerooms, lockers, and guidance councelors depending on their last name.
