Poulaphouca Reservoir, also known locally as Blessington Lakes, is a national park and area of wild bird conservation in in West County Wicklow. It was created in 1944 by damming the River Liffey at Poulaphouca as part of the ESB project to build a second hydroelectric station in Ireland, Ardnacrusha on the River Shannon being the first.
The reservoir is a major source of Dublin's water supply. The other major supply is Vartry Reservoir in East County Wicklow.
