Pradeep Barot (b.1953) is a Sarod maestro based in Bombay India. Born to a gifted clarionet player Ratan lal Barot, Pradeep from a young age displayed immence musical talent. At a young of fourteen, Pradeep was accepted as a student by the legendary sarodya Vasant Rai. For five years Vasant taught Pradeep and groomed him to be a formidable performer. After 1969 Vasant decided to concentrate on his career in the west and was unable to continue to teach Pradeep, and so refered the young student to Smt Annapurna Devi who was Vasants gurus daughter. Hearing Pradeep Annapurna Devi was impressed, and accepted him as a pupil. Pradeep Barot still continues his training with Annapurana. Pradeep has established himself as one of the leading Indian classical musicians of his generation, and is the director of music of the Films Division Mumbai.
