[edit] My rewrite

I pretty much had to rewrite this article when I foundit. It was just a stub, until an anonymous contributor dumped a huge amount of text into the article. While much of it was legitimate material (and a fair amount I couldn't substantiate, was unfounded speculation, or was outright wrong), it also was just attached to the end of the stub, making this two articles just running together. I did plenty of research, incorporated what I could from the existing texts and rewrote the article to a much higher standard of quality. --Wingsandsword 21:16, 13 August 2005 (UTC)

Can anyone provide a source specifying that the darksiders from Byss were Prophets of the Dark Side? --Jon Hart 04:56, 18 August 2005 (UTC)

Here are the sources on the Dark Side Adepts from Byss also being part of the Prophets of the Dark Side. The Dark Side Adepts were shown, in passing, in the Dark Empire comics, and given about a page-long writeup in the Dark Empire Sourcebook from West End Games, and "Dark Side Adepts" was the title of the Byss darksiders. The "Dark Forces Saga" article I linked specified that the Dark Side Adepts were trained on Dromund Kaas, on the homeworld of the Prophets of the Dark Side. The real Prophets of the Dark Side were also uninvolved in the events of the early New Republic era, having sequestered themselves from the Galaxy (much like Palpatine did after his death and rebirth) (the Dark Side Sourcebook).

So, the Dark Side Adepts (a term which has always been used specifically for Palpatine's dark-side courtiers from Byss), were trained on the homeworld and training facility of the Prophets of the Dark Side. That's the most direct evidence, which appears to be in agreement with the rest of the EU materials (like the Prophets forseeing Palpatine's death and fleeing Coruscant for parts unknown, just as Palpatine dies and is reborn at Byss and stays in seclusion there for years with his Adepts). --Wingsandsword 04:09, 22 August 2005 (UTC)

I agree. However, since I can't find anywhere it is explicitly stated that the Dark Side Adepts from Byss are Prophets of the Dark Side, I have altered all passages that express this as fact. --Jon Hart 21:16, 22 August 2005 (UTC)

Also, the magazine article I cited on the article on Maarek Stele makes it crystal clear he is an actual Emperor's Hand, and that his position within the Emperor's Secret Order was that of a "Hand" agent, not inherently a rank within the Secret Order. --Wingsandsword 04:11, 22 August 2005 (UTC)

Correct. There are, however, two types of Emperor's Hands: the secret agent/assassin title personally bestowed by the Emperor, and a rank within the Emperor's Secret Order. Stele's title of Hand was the former type. Within the Secret Order, his rank was Emperor's Reach. --Jon Hart 21:16, 22 August 2005 (UTC)

Furthermore, regarding the large section "Byss and the Dark Side Adepts" you removed, now that I've told you which of the sources I have been clearer about which of the sources I've already cited in the article, I'm putting the section "Byss and the Dark Side Adepts" back in, since that section was based primarily on the DESB (the dark-side theocracy and so on), although the section on Mara Jade and Kyle Katarn assaulting Dromund Kaas in 10 ABY is the plotline of the Jedi Knight: Mysteries of the Sith game. The part about "routine" work like preparing elixirs and such was from the Dark Side Sourcebook, where it says that Vader's armor dispensed Sith alchemical elixirs to boost his strength, which the Dark Side Adepts prepared and doled out to Vader as directed to by Palpatine. I don't put "fan speculation" articles I write, I research them, sometimes from obscure sources admittedly, but from official ones, but I cited everything at the bottom of the page. --Wingsandsword 12:52, 22 August 2005 (UTC)
