Punjab Institute of Computer Science

The Punjab Institute of Computer Science (PICS) is a privately owned prestigious computer college in the University of Central Punjab. It is one of the top computer institutes in Lahore. It offers a 4-year bachelor's Degree in computer science. It is situated in the Gulberg area of Lahore.
The Islamic Commerce Education Society (ICES) founded in 1985, established its first educational institution known as the Punjab College of Commerce in Muslim Town on the Canal Bank, Lahore. ICES opened new vistas for those with the desire to pursue higher education and excel in their respective professional fields. It continued to pursue this path relentlessly by extending this professional network throughout the province of Punjab, which came to be known as the Punjab Group of Colleges. Currently, the Punjab Group is providing professional education in the fields of business education, information technology, computer science, law and commerce.
In addition the Punjab Group embarked upon another ambitious plan of establishing institutions of higher education in the country. Mohammad Ali Jinnah University, Karachi and Islamabad Campuses are major examples of this pursuit. This University was established in 1998 with a Charter from Sindh Government. It commenced operations by imparting high quality American patterned education in Business Administration and Computer Science. Subsequently, University of Central Punjab, Lahore came into being pursuant to a Charter by the Government of the Punjab in 2002. Resource Academia, Lahore - a high school for Class 1 to A' Level - is the latest addition. The Group has an exalted mission to inculcate knowledge, culture and technology to upscale the standards of Pakistan. The educational institutions of the Group have attracted in their fold the best teaching faculty. These institutions are equipped with state-of-the-art teaching aids and have grown into houses of excellence with the finest possible learning environment. Students from all over the country throng these institutions in quest for higher learning, quite comparable to the opportunities available in more developed countries. The chosen area of the ICES had all along been what may be described as "professional education". While the ICES recognized the vital importance of education it never lost sight of pragmatism. It has continuously striven hard to establish a clear nexus between education and skill development. It has always worked hard to identify skills which are required accordingly. The emphasis, as is evident, has been in areas such as commerce, law, business and information technology.
The 21st century promises even greater breakthroughs in education, research, development and planning than its preceding counterpart. The Punjab Group of Colleges' response to the challenges of the new millennium was the establishment of the Faculty of Information Technology at University of Central Punjab.
Management skills are being re-defined constantly. The number of people attracted to the field of Information Technology is registering an appreciable growth. For a developing country like Pakistan it is imperative that students develop Information Technology skills of an international standard.
Faculty of Information Technology's countrywide reputation as a house of superior learning is beyond any doubt. Since its inception it has grown in size and has a larger population of students than practically any other IT education institution in the country. It is a world within a world, and a fine blend of individual glory and academic excellence.
