Purdy's Wharf
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Purdy's Wharf is an office complex in downtown Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. It consists of two office buildings and a smaller office structure called Purdy's Landing, commonly referred to as the "Xerox building", due to the large Xerox sign that used to hang on the exterior of the building. It also contains a seven-story parkade as well as pedways connecting the complex to Casino Nova Scotia and the Downtown Halifax Link system.
The buildings were designed by Shore Tilbe Henschel Irwin Peters - Architects (now Shore Tilbe Irwin + Partners),[1] and constructed by JW Lindsay Enterprises Limited. JW Lindsey was also the project's developer.
The towers are built over the water and rest on pilings; for heating, they use a heat-recovery system that uses sea water from Halifax Harbour.
