Lagoa is the C-shaped lake, the Corcovado peak is in the mountain range just north of it, the picture was taken looking south to Ipanema and the Cagarras Islands beyond. This larger map shows the islands:

A curiosity: the taller island in the background is almost twice the distance of the others, something not obvious in the picture.

what is the license that you uploaded your photo under. We are interested in using over in a project at wikibooks, but as the final copy will be printed, we want to only use gfdl photos. If you could release it under a dual gfdl, cc-by-sa that would be great. The bellman 23:00, 2004 Nov 10 (UTC)

Polite Inquiry: Why did you delete the reference in the city of Taraz article that it was sometimes known as Talas (after the river)? I know that there is a town, a tenth the size of Taraz that is currently called Talas, but in earlier writings in English (and Latin ?) Taraz is refered to as Talas. Should there be a disambiguation page? That seems a little extreme to me. What are your thoughts? Bejnar 04:55, 27 March 2006 (UTC)

The reason why I made this correction is because this is the English-language Wikipedia, and, when speaking of that region in English, it is customary to specify that it is Russian Far East, as opposed to the Far East in general. In Russian, of course, that distinction is made differently (and that fact should be mentioned in the article), but we must use the name that's most familiar to Anglophones (see Wikipedia:Naming conventions (use English)). - I understand your concern, but your Joseph Stalin example cannot be used as an exact analogy. "Russian Far East" is the name under which the region is known to foreigners, and "Дальний Восток России", or "Российский Дальний Восток", is a translation of that term (one that is used in Russian texts targeting foreigners). "Дальний Восток"/"Far East" proper is the name of that same region used in Russia internally—a fact that the article must mention (perhaps in the intro line alongside with the longer version, or in the second paragraph). Putting "Дальний Восток" as an equivalent right after the term "Russian Far East" is just not right. I agree that both terms could be better placed within the article, but frivolously mixing two variants of the term is not the way to go. How about rewriting the intro this way:
- Russian Far East or simply Far East (Russian: Да́льний Восто́к, Dalny Vostok) as it is referred to in Russia, is a term that refers to the Russian part of the Far East, i.e., extreme south-east parts of Russia, located between Siberia and the Pacific Ocean.
