Rainer Schmidt

Studied with Atila Aydintan in Hannover and Dorothy Delay in Cincinnati, USA. Had a strong formative influence from Walter Levin, later from Ivry Gitlis, Tatjana Grindenko, and Nicolaus Harnoncourt; member of the Hagen Quartet since 1987. Founder of the Ravinia Piano Trio (1989). Soloist in Vienna, Berlin and London. Has taught chamber-music at the Mozarteum since 1988. Since 2002 string-quartet full professor at the Escuela Superior de Música Reina Sofía in Madrid. Moreover he had collaborated in Magister Musicae project with his master classes.
