Rashbehari Avenue

Rashbehari Avenue (also Rash Behari Avenue) is one of the most prestigious and important avenues of Kolkata, this is often commonly referred to as Gariahat, the prime shopping and aristocratic residential neighbourhood of south Kolkata.

The buzzing Gariahat Market is located on Rashbehari Avenue and Gariahat Road Crossing. Perhaps best known for it's excusive collection of Indian sarees, other items such as readymade garments, electronic gadgets, and almost every other thing can be found here. Besides the regular shops, there are the makeshift shops that crowd the sidewalks. These shops are the ones where one gets to purchase something at a bargain price.
The main shopping area, perhaps the largest in Kolkata, runs all the way down to it's intersection with Sarat Bose Road. Then it travels further west to meet Shyamaprasad Mukherjee Road.
