The Iranian Red Sheep (Ovis ammon gmelini) is also known as Armenian sheep. It lives mostly in open rough terrain.
[edit] California Red Sheep
The California Red Sheep was first bred by Dr. Glenn Spurlock of the University of California at Davis. He wanted to breed a meat with excellent taste and texture. Genetic breeding techniques were used to cross the Barbados sheep with a Tunis sheep.
California Red Sheep can survive in cold climates, and are currently being bred as far north as Canada.
