Reggie Watts is an internationally renowned vocalist/beatboxer/musician/comedian/improvisor[1] and founding member of the band Maktub. He was born c.1972 in Germany to a French mother and an African-American father [2] and raised in Great Falls, Montana. He attended Chief Joseph elementary school and graduated from Great Falls High School. His full name is Reginald Lucien Frank Roger Watts[3]. Watts moved to Seattle at age 18 where he briefly attended the Art Institute of Seattle before eventually studying jazz at Cornish College of the Arts[4].
Watts made his name playing and singing in various bands in the Seattle music scene through the 90's to now, but has made a shift to comedic leanings in the last few years. His comedic experience includes the New York/L.A. alternative comedy scenes, the Montreal, Cape Town and Edinburgh Comedy Festivals plus several BBC live radio events. Although he lives in New York City presently, he still maintains a residence in Seattle.[citation needed]
His brand of comedy is self-coined as "dissinformationist".[5] He is winner of the 2005 Malcolm Hardee "Oye Oye" Award and the 2006 Andy Kaufman Comedy Award
Author Alice Walker is Watt's second cousin[6].
