The Regional Special Events Center, often locally referred to as the RSEC, is a multipurpose arena located on the campus of Murray State University in Murray, Kentucky, USA. Its primary tenants are the Murray State Racers (men's) and Lady Racers basketball teams. In November 2007, the latest incarnation of the Kentucky Colonels team in the current ABA will begin play in the RSEC.
The arena, which seats 8,602, was built as a replacement for Racer Arena, the school's former basketball arena. While Racer Arena was structurally sound (it still stands and is now used for volleyball), it was growing increasingly obsolete, and its capacity of 5,500 proved too small for the men's basketball program. After the Kentucky General Assembly appropriated $18 million for construction and the school raised an extra $2 million, ground was broken in 1997 and the RSEC opened in 1998.
While the RSEC is mainly used for basketball, it also frequently hosts concerts, trade shows, and conventions.
