Regions of Illinois

The State of Illinois has several metropolitan regions:
- Chicagoland is located in the northeastern corner of the state, including 6 counties and the City of Chicago.
- The Quad Cities are located in the lower northwest of the state on the bank of the Mississippi River.
- Little Egypt is located in the south of the state. It is centered at the city of Cairo, Illinois.
- Champaign-Urbana is located in the central region of the state. It is centered at the University of Illinois.
- Metro-East is an area just east of St. Louis and it includes 6 counties, with 5 of them in the St. Louis metropolitan area.
- Central Illinois is located in the center of the state.
- River Bend is centered around Alton. It includes 3 counties.
