RFC-793
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
RFC-793 is a DARPA Request For Comments that eventually defined what we now call TCP or Transmission Control Protocol which was not then, but is now a very well defined standard which governs most IP or internet protocol communications and transmissions.
TCP involves a complex trans mission of data involing IPv4 and/or IPv6 transmissions, conssiting of what is commonly refered to as a SYN, ACK; SYN, ACK; ACK.
Justin James McCorkle, 08 March 2007
A common IPv4 transmission looks like this;
08:54:28.064099 215.45.90.10 > 54.40.3.29: S 871239842316459:91823740982137478(256) ack 333092 win 01213495.
when monitored with an IDS device.
