Rijksmuseum van Oudheden

The Rijksmuseum van Oudheden (National Museum of Antiquities) is a museum in Leiden, the Netherlands, dedicated to archeology of ancient Egyptian, Middle-Eastern, Greek, Roman, and Dutch societies. It was founded in 1818 by William I of the Netherlands. Part of its initial collection was an inheritance left in 1744 to the town's university. Its collection grew steadily and consists of original finds and acquisitions from other collections.
