Riverstone High Scool is a co-educational, comprehensive educational institution located in the semi-rural area of Riverstone in Sydney, New Sounth Wales. Established in 1962 as a solution to the growing population of Riverstone which required a high school, Riverstone High is the venue of a majority of the academic functions occurring in the area.
[edit] Educational Performance
In the past years Riverstone has constantly lagged behind all other schools achieving below state averages in all academic pursuits. Students coming from a low socioeconomic background mean that Riverstone has a decile rating of 4 (decile rating is the overrall wealth of the students' background ie. 10 being extremely high socioeconomic background, 1 being extremely low socioeconomic background). Unfortuanetly, Riverstone teeters on the brink of bankruptcy as essential government funding has been cut and the poverty stricken student population has absolutely no means of supporting the school. Thankfully, community organisations such as the RSL have donated money to maintain the school. Riverstone High School possesses some of the lowest School Certificate results in the state and as well as that is not known for its exceeding scores in the ELLA and SNAP test which is carried out every year for grades 7 & 8.

Before forming the Nirimba Collegiate, Riverstone High School initially accomodated years 7 to 12 before just becoming a middle school for years 7 to 10. During the initial stages, Riverstone High School had an unfavourable reputation for disturbing violence among its older grades as fights were common and viewed as entertainment for the students. Its present circumstances are much favourable however, Riverstone is still viewed negatively with past generation violence continuing to present day students. Prohibited smoking and consuming of alcohol among students is popular and seems to be the norm for such an institutions. As well as that, Riverstone High School possesses the highest teenage pregnancy rate in the area with underage sexual intercourse common among students.

Riverstone High School has been attacked for having low educational standards and high violence. Fights between students are common and so the police are frequent visitors to the run-down, poorly-lit, tacky school. The school's inability to afford safe modern facilities has also been crticised. Apart from Doonside Technolgy, Riverstone High School has been described as one of the most densely populated sources for neighbourhood gangs and bullies. Riverstone in present times has attempted to hide the innadequacy of its students by presenting an image of do-gooders when it still lies in a dire state.

In the media Riverstone has been described as the crud bucket of the Riverina Area. Moreover, Riverstone High was subject to the attack by local teenagers with the slogan " How many students from Riverstone does it take to screw in a light- bulb? AnswerSix- two to break into the store, one to steal the globe, one to install it and two to help him reach the socket using their pregnant tummies as steps.
Riverstone has gotten media attention for the many gang fights occurring. Although less than in the past which were usually sparked between Riverstone's neighbouring school Coverdale Christian College because of boyfriends and girlfriends, Riverstone is still known for its pathetic suspension rate. Riverstone is a loser school full of hobos and num-skulls who are destined to end up hanging out with the losers at centrelink plagueing the welfare system and robbing the help and money from people whom actually need it.
