[edit] History
Merrill started to play guitar at age ten, but later swiched over to bass (his beloved "four string thing"). He has played in a country, blues, reggae, prog, and '50's/'60's cover band. His job before joining the hard rock band Godsmack was carpentry. Just like lead guitarist Tony Rombola. He says that if not for Godsmack he would still be a carpenter. When working as one he owned his own business. Merrill and Sully Erna are the only original members of Godsmack. Merrill is married and has one child.
