Robert Anderson Irion

Robert Anderson Irion (July 7, 1804 - March 2, 1861) was Secretary of State under Sam Houston's first presidency of the Republic of Texas. In his honor, Irion County, Texas is named after him. Irion also fought under Zachary Taylor at the Battle of Monterrey. When Texas became a state of the United States, he was the state's first governor.
