Rockhampton Brothers

Rockhampton Brothers is a rugby league club situated in the Central Queensland city of Rockhampton.
The club has had a proud history since its exception into the Rockhampton Senior Rugby League and Rockhampton Junior Rugby League competitions. Many talents have emerged from the Junior section of the club. One of these is Penrith Panthers fullback Rhys Wesser, who is also a product of the rugby league-proud school, Emmaus College.

The team mentioned above also, won there Grand Final of 2006 which put them into the Foundation Cup, there first game was against Gladstone who they successfully defeated which won them the title "Best Team in Central Queensland" the following weekend they continued the knock out competition and went on to play Townsville Brothers, the bout between these two teams took place at Mackay, Rockhampton Brothers once again came out with the win. The Team is on there way to the Gold Coast, more details on the competition as it happens.
[edit] The Grand Final
The Brothers side entered the grand final as strong favourites, after only 1 loss in the regular season, and beating their grand final opponents, Gracemere Cubs, all four times in normal fixture games.
The game started as a very tough encounter with field position playing a major part. Gracemere scored 4 tries, to make the score 22-0 after 15 minutes. Things did not look good for the favourites. But when the inspirational Raymond Naglu came off the bench, momentum began to shift. After a line break by the Tongan-tower, and an offload to Joe Collins-Soo, the score read 22-4. With good field position, the Brethren put on another quick try before half-time, by captain Sam Hoare, and the townsfolk could see that momentum had shifted.
After the break, ever-improving centre, Tim Fitzgerald, showed up his Queensland counterpart, Lyndon Law, to score a try. This was followed by a a field goal slotted by one of the marquee players in the competition, Zac Moss, made the scoreboard read 23-16 with 15 minutes left. After some good field position, a 5 metre barge by Naglu left the scores 23-22, with a mere 10 minutes left.
On the kick-off, the Brethren captain, Sam Hoare, showed toughness that has been expected by the townsfolk. After receiving a head-knock which left him on the ground, the skipper made a huge 50 metre kick-off return which left the side with great field position. After multiple sets on the Cub's line, and less than a minute left, a last tackle play left Fitzgerald in the corner. The final score-line reading 26-23, in favour of the Brethren.
One of the most memorable Grand Finals in Rockhampton Junior Rugby League history, and one of the greatest comebacks ever, it shows how much character and guts this truly great side has.
