Rolling Stone's 100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The 100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time was a cover story of a special issue of Rolling Stone magazine published in August 2003. As with future lists such as the 500 Greatest Albums of All Time and the 500 Greatest Songs of All Time, the list generated some controversy mainly based on the notable guitarists that failed to make the list. The most represented band was The Allman Brothers Band with 4 guitarists: Duane Allman (2nd), Warren Haynes (23rd), Dickey Betts (58th), and Derek Trucks (81st).
The top ten guitarists on the list were:
- Jimi Hendrix
- Duane Allman of the Allman Brothers Band
- B.B. King
- Eric Clapton
- Robert Johnson
- Chuck Berry
- Stevie Ray Vaughan
- Ry Cooder
- Jimmy Page of Led Zeppelin
- Keith Richards of the Rolling Stones
