Rosie Banks (née McGee) was a fictional character in the UK Soap Opera Brookside, played by Susan Twist from 1994 until 1996.She worked as a parking inspector and was forever on the wrong side of good luck.Her underage son was caught joyriding and then shoplifting,she then went on to become pregnant but lost her baby.In 1995 she and her husband won the lotto but ended up feuding with a neighbour who declared he was entitled to half the cash.After a bitter feud,the cash was eventually shared but rosie became addicted to gambling and blew all the lotto money.She then had to take on an extra job in max farnham's restaurant were she started stealing food and selling it but she got caught.Her husband eddie left her and started an affair with divorced daughter in law sarah.Rosie forgave him but due to her gambling addiction the family were in 25000 pound debt.However the hospital had to pay her compensation as it was due to their error that the child was misscarried.This was enough money to cover their debt and everything seemed to have a happy ending,however rosie gambled the 25000 pounds and lost it all and as a result the family lost their house and left the close.
