The articles significance is fairly clear as a safety critical system in use by the Department of Transport, formerly SRA, formerly British Rail Board to ensure safe payloads on rail lines in Great Britain are not exceeded by trains using them. It is a term of importance on all British Railway locomotive, carriage and wagon articles, as it signifies where (or rather, where they may not as a more appropriate example) operate. The article was requested on the British Rail Class 37 article by community members unsure of the meaning of the term, and how information contained on other articles may be perceived, as it is a fairly complex system, which requires some explaining, and has the potential for an article of it's own. I shall update the information contained within to a more detailed level soon, but for now I don't have the time available to consider it all correctly and decide what may/may not be useful/appropriate.
