[edit] Appearances
The main appearances of the Royal Knights have have been in the movie Digital Monster X-Evolution, the anime Digimon Frontier and Digimon Savers, and the manhua D-Cyber.
[edit] Digimon Frontier
In Digimon Frontier, the Royal Knights are warriors in service of the villainous Lucemon. Only two of the Royal Knights, Dynasmon and Crusadermon actually appear. The two sided with Lucemon so that they could gain access to the human world, which they wished to rule over.
The two Royal Knights revealed themselves only after the defeat of Cherubimon by the Legendary Warriors. The two handed a dramatic defeat to the strongest of the group's members, and then travelled throughout the Digital World collecting data for Lucemon's revival.
The Knights ultimately succeeded at this, and Lucemon joined them for a brief period. Lucemon sent the two on one final stand against the Legendary Warriors. This time, the Knights were defeated at the hands of EmperorGreymon and MagnaGarurumon. Lucemon ultimately betrayed them, taking advantage of their weakened state by absorbing their data, allowing him to evolve to his more powerful form - Lucemon Chaos Mode.
Although the Royal Knights appear to be evil, the group is in fact meant to serve the purpose of keeping the Digital World safe. This is illustrated by Baromon's shocked statement that " one time the Royal Knights did fight for justice".
[edit] Digital Monsters X-Evolution
The Royal Knights in this movie are protectors of the Digital World, serving the super computer Yggdrasil. The Royal Knights who appeared in this movie include Gallantmon, Omegamon (Omnimon), Magnamon, Alphamon, and Crusadermon (cameo).
At the start of this movie, Yggdrasil had begun a program called "Project Ark". This begun after the destruction of the original Digital World. Yggdrasil had planned to save a select few Digimon and take them to a "new Digital World". However, this plan was disrupted when Digimon from the old world, reborn with the X-Antibody, begun appearing in his new Digital World.
Yggdrasil orders the Royal Knights to begin a genocidal destruction of all digimon. This was met with opposition by one of the Royal Knights themselves - Gallantmon. Later, a mysterious digimon named Dorumon reveals himself to be Alphamon, the Royal Knights' legendary leader. Alphamon and Omegamon join forces, and confront Yggdrasil. At the end, Omegamon is left alone to save to the Digital World by destroying his "lord."
[edit] Digimon Savers
In Digimon Savers, the Royal Knights are again portrayed as Yggdrasil's subordinates. This marks the first time that nearly all of the (currently revealed) Royal Knights have appeared together.
In this series, the Royal Knights are ordered to destroy the Human World, due to Yggdrasil judging the actions of Akihiro Kurata and the fact that the Digital World is set to collide with the human world. Before they could begin, they encountered and defeated the members of DATS (Digital Accident Tactics Squad), resulting in them having to be saved by the rogue Knight, Sleipmon, who had become Rentarou Satsuma's partner, Kudamon.
The Knights' destruction of the human world began afterwards, resulting in a battle between Gallantmon and Sleipmon, which resulted in their both being sealed in ice. In following events, two more Royal Knights, Crusadermon and Duftmon fell in battle. Later, Craniummon was defeated by the members of DATS, showing them that his so-called "god", Yggdrasil, was not absolute.
Craniummon then went to the real world, and took the place of the digimon, BanchouLeomon, who was keeping the two worlds from colliding. This would serve as an example for the other Knights, who, along with the now freed Gallantmon, defied Yggdrasil. They attempted to help Craniummon hold the two worlds apart, and when Yggdrasil was defeated, they thanked the humans and returned to the Digital World.
[edit] Members of the Royal Knights
The group consists of a total of 13 members (three of which are still unknown). In the Digimon back story created by Bandai, the group is said to have been founded by Imperialdramon Paladin Mode - However, he is not actually a member of the group.
So far, all members of the Royal Knights who have appeared have been Mega level Digimon, save for Magnamon, who is an Armor-level Digimon. In addition, all of the Royal Knights in the Digimon card game are classified as "Holy Knight"-type Digimon[1].
[edit] Alphamon
Alphamon's name is a reference to alpha, the first letter of the Greek alphabet. This creates a thematic link with himself and Omnimon, whose Japanese name is Omegamon - effectively, a reference to the concept of the Alpha and Omega. [edit] Digital Monster X-EvolutionAlphamon is one of the main characters in Digital Monster X-Evolution. In this movie, Alphamon was the former leader of the Royal Knights, and the mega form of Dorumon. At the end of the movie, he sacrificed himself by impaling both himself and Dexmon with his "Ultimate War Blade King Dragon Sword". [edit] Digimon D-CyberAlphamon is once again the final form of Dorumon, who is Hikaru Ryuuji's Digimon partner. In the manhua's final battle against the ancient Dexmon, he's revealed to actually be Alphamon, the leader of the group known as the Holy Knights, from long ago. [edit] Digimon SaversThough he did not have any episode appearances or mentions in the entire series, he did make a small cameo appearance as a silhouette in the second opening of Digimon Savers, standing along side the other Royal Knights. [edit] Craniummon
Craniummon's name comes from the world cranium, the human skull. This is due to the fact that Craniummon's head is shaped like a skull. [edit] Digimon SaversIn Digimon Savers, Craniummon is the closest Royal Knight to Yggdrasil, and carries out his orders without question. Years before the start of the series, he encountered and was defeated in battle by Suguru Daimon and BanchouLeomon just prior to their encounter with Yggdrasil. Years later, Craniummon heard Yggdrasil's arguments about humanity's crimes and agreed with his master's decision to destroy the human world. He was the first Royal Knight to face the members of DATS in battle, and seemed to overpower them until Masaru Daimon blocked his spear with his fist and knocked Craniummon to the ground. Later, Craniummon again faced them in battle, using his shield, Avalon, which had been given to him by Yggdraisl and provided him with absolute defense from attacks. However, using the power of all their final forms, and a punch from Masaru, the shield was shattered - showing Craniummon that Yggdrasil's power was not absolute. With this knowledge, he went to Mt. Fuji in the human world, where he took the place of BanchouLeomon, who had been holding the two worlds apart. He struggled with this task, until Yggdrasil himself came to the Human World, set on destroying it. Craniummon found himself joined by his fellow Knights, Attacks

[edit] Crusadermon
Crusadermon's name is taken from crusader, which is a term for a warrior who took part in the Crusades a more generic term for anyone who fights for a cause. The Japanese name, LordKnightmon, is a combination of the English words "Lord" and "Knight." The pronunciation for Crusadermon's Japanese name, Lord Knightmon, results in a pronunciation that sounds similar to "Rhodonitemon", which may be an intentional pun, due to Crusadermon's colorscheme being similar to rhodonite. [edit] Digimon FrontierCrusadermon, along with Dynasmon, is a major villain in Digimon Frontier. Following the defeat of Cherubimon, Crusadermon and Dynasmon began the accumulation of Fractal Code data for Lucemon in exchange for entry into the human world. In their first clash with the Legendary Warriors, Crusadermon easily overpowered MagnaGarurumon. The two would fight again numerous times as the Legendary Warriors tried to stop the Royal Knights from stealing the data of the Digital World. On a few occasions, Crusadermon also employed several Knightmon. When Lucemon was finally reborn and the Legendary Warriors were forced to retreat to the Ophanimoon (one of the Digital World's three moons), Crusadermon pleaded for Lucemon to give them the key to the human world, a request which Lucemon denied. When Lucemon sent the Knights to finally take care of the human children, the two were struck down and their own Fractal Codes exposed. In the end, Lucemon betrayed the two knights and he absorbed their data in order to Digivolve into Lucemon Chaos Mode. [edit] Digital Monster X-EvolutionCrusadermon makes a cameo in Digital Monster X-Evolution as one of the Royal Knights serving Yggdrasil - Crusadermon's voice can be heard in a scene with Magnamon, Omnimon and Gallantmon. [edit] Digimon SaversCrusadermon first appeared when the main characters of this series encountered the Royal Knights. Their attempt to destroy the humans and their digimon was stopped by the sudden appearance of Sleipmon, who carried them away. Crusadermon also participated in the attack on the human world, commanding an army of Knightmon. When Touma H. Norstein and MirageGaogamon held back an attack on an airport, Crusadermon appeared personally and overwhelmed both them and Hiroshi Yushima's partner, Shawujingmon. It was only when Touma activated MirageGaogamon's digivolution to Burst Mode that Crusadermon was defeated. The Knight reverted to a Digi-Egg, which was pulled back into the Digital World. Attacks

[edit] Duftmon
Duftmon's name comes from the German word for "scent." [edit] Digimon SaversWhen the Royal Knights were continuing on their campaign to destroy the human world, Duftmon emerged and presented himself to Yggdrasil, who allowed him to join the battle. Duftmon then appeared in Japan, and attacked Yoshino Fujieda, Ikuto Noguchi, and their partners, Rosemon and Ravemon. During the battle, Duftmon gave his opponents an insight to the Royal Knights' sense of justice, stating that saving the Digital World was a task worthy of even sacrificing its own inhabitants. Determined to save Masaru Daimon's family, Yoshino and Ikuto both empowered their partners into Rosemon Burst Mode and Ravemon Burst Mode respectively. The two digimon then defeated Duftmon together. [edit] Dynasmon
Though it has never appeared in the anime, Dynasmon has an X-Antibody form. This form has an extra set of wings, sharper structures on his armor and more pronounced horns.[6] [edit] Digimon FrontierDynasmon, along with Crusdermon, is a major villain in Digimon Frontier. Following the defeat of Cherubimon, Crusadermon and Dynasmon began the accumulation of Fractal Code data, all for the purpose of reviving Lucemon, in exchange for being allowed the opportunity to gain the key to entering the human world. In the two Knights' first encounter with the Legendary Warriors, he soundly defeated EmperorGreymon, who would prove to be his most common opponent in the numerous battles that followed. When Lucemon was finally revived, the two Knights foughtt the Legendary Warriors again, and this time, they were both defeated. Their master, betrayed them at this point, absorbed their data and used it to Digivolve himself into Lucemon Chaos Mode. [edit] Digimon SaversDynasmon appeared when Masaru Daimon and his comrades approached Yggdrasil, personally appearing to them after Craniummon was nearly defeated. Dynasmon prepared to destroy the humans with his comrades, but Sleipmon's sudden appearance stopped them. Later, Dynasmon was seen attacking a human city with the Royal Knights' army of Knightmon. He used his "Breath of Wyvern" attack on New York. He then had a short conversation with Magnamon about Craniummon's battle with the humans, and remained confident of his victory Towards the end of the series, when Yggdrasil appeared to finish the destruction of the Human World, Dynasmon and four other Knights at Mt. Fuji, and denied their master's orders, seemingly having arrived at the same conclusions as Craniummon about Yggdrasil's orders. They helped Craniummon hold the two worlds apart, and once Yggdrasil was defeated, Dynasmon returned to the human world with his fellow Knights. Attacks

[edit] Gallantmon
This section features the Gallantmon from Digital Monster X-Evolution and Digimon Savers. For the Gallantmon featured in Digimon Tamers, see Guilmon
[edit] Digital Monster X-EvolutionIn Digital Monster X-Evolution, Gallantmon is a member of the Royal Knights who questioned the intentions of the host computer, Yggdrasil. Because of this, Gallantmon acted individually, and tried to convince his close friend Omnimon that they were just being used and that their Lord Yggdrasil's Project Ark was more than he seemed. However, Omnimon refused to hear of it. The two Knights engaged in a brief duel in which Gallantmon was killed. However, Gallantmon was soon reborn with the X-Antibody, as Gallantmon X. [edit] Digimon SaversIn Digimon Savers, Gallantmon is the second Royal Knight to make his presence known to Masaru and his group. Gallantmon was strong enough to defeat all the DATS Mega Digimon (including ShineGreymon Burst Mode) and force them back back into their Rookie forms with just one attack. He then pursued them and Sleipmon to the Human World. After a battle with all of the DATS team, Gallantmon was able to easily defeat them. Sleipmon stepped in and began to freeze both Gallantmon and himself with Odin's Breath. Both are consumed by the ice twister, and fall into the ocean. The two Royal Knights survive, but are encased in ice. At the end of the series, Gallantmon reappears and rejoins the other Knights at Mt. Fuji. He explains that Sleipmon's digisoul unfroze them and understands why Sleipmon betrayed them. Gallantmon helps in the battle with Yggdrasil but his attack is easily bounced off. Gallantmon helps Craniummon hold the Digital World up. After Yggdrasil has been defeated they head back to the Digital World. Attacks

[edit] Digital Monster X-EvolutionMagnamon was one of the Royal Knights who had been fiercely loyal to Yggdrasil. He is the one who captures Dorugamon and brings him to Yggdrasil. Later when Alphamon appears and Omnimon joins his side to stop Yggdrasil, Magnamon still believes in their leader but does nothing to stop them as the two warriors pass by. [edit] Digimon SaversIn Digimon Savers, Magnamon is one of a number of Royal Knights who comes to the aid of Craniummon to fight against the DATS team. He is later seen in a conversation with Dynasmon. At the end of the series when Yggdrasil heads to the real world to finish the destruction of the Human World. Mangamon and four other Knights head to Mt. Fuji and suggest the need to find another way, Yggdrasil attacks the Knights because of this and Mangamon is one of the Knights who help Craniummon hold the Digital World up. After Yggdrasil has been defeated they head back to the Digital World. Attacks

[edit] Omnimon
This section features the Omnimon from Digital Monster X-Evolution and Digimon Savers. For the Omnimon featured in Digimon Adventure, see Omnimon
[edit] Digital Monster X-EvolutionOmnimon appeared in Digital Monster X-Evolution as the leader of the Royal Knights during Alphamon's absence. Initially, Omnimon carried out Project Ark almost to the letter. He is a follower of Yggdrasil, the super-computer governing the current Digital World. When Gallantmon confronted Omnimon about Yggdrasil, they were unable to agree about the nature of Project Ark and so they fought. Omnimon ended up killing Gallantmon. Shaken by his friend's death, Omnimon begun to seriously question Yggdrasil. But even so, he still carried out Yggdrasil's orders. It was only when Alphamon saved Omnimon's life and gave it the X-Antibody that Omnimon's eyes were finally opened to Yggdrasil's true motives. Transforming into Omnimon X, he destroyed Yggdrasil with his All Delete attack, resetting the Digital World as a result. [edit] Digimon SaversIn Digimon Savers, Omnimon is one of a number of Royal Knights who comes to the aid of Craniummon and fight against the DATS team. He appears again, briefly, when Yggdrasil is expelled from Suguru's body. He and 4 other Royal Knights coverge at Mt. Fuji and suggest the need to find another way. Omnimon defends the DATS team from Yggdrasil attack and helps Craniummon hold the Digital World up. After Yggdrasil has been defeated they head back to the Digital World. Attacks

[edit] Sleipmon
Sleipmon is a six-legged centaur-like paladin, he was named after Sleipnir (Odin's steed). Unlike the other Royal Knights, Sleipmon has a beast-like appearance (rather than a humanoid one). Sleipmon protects ancient historic ruins located below the thick ice in the Digital World's arctic area because the important program data that influences the creation of Digimon is said to be sealed away in those ruins. [edit] Digimon SaversSleipmon makes his first anime appearance in Digimon Savers. After the DATS team were defeated (and nearly killed) by Gallantmon, Sleipmon appears to take the DATS team away. He then reverts back to his rookie form from sustaining heavy damage, revealing himself to be Kudamon, Satsuma's partner. Kudamon had been a spy sent by Yggdrasil to observe the humans and to determine their worthiness. When Gallantmon returned to attack the Real World, Kudamon digivolved again into Sleipmon to fight Gallantmon. Due to his affection for humans, Sleipmon choose not to obey Yggdrasil's orders in exterminating them. He fought Gallantmon and used Odin's Breath in an attempt to freeze solid both himself and Gallantmon. In a last ditch effort, Gallantmon struck Sleipmon's shield and heavily cracked it, resulting in blast that caused both of them to be consumed by the ice twister. The two Royal Knights survived, but were encased in ice and have fallen into the ocean. When Yggdrasil entered the real world, Sleipmon's Digisoul broke the ice uncasing them. Sleipmon became Kudamon again, and was taken by Gallantmon to Mt. Fuji where he remained unconscience and was later reunited with Satsuma. Attacks

[edit] UlforceVeedramon
This section features the UlforceVeedramon from Digimon Savers. For the UlforceVeedramon featured in V-Tamer, see Zeromaru
UlforceVeedramon is the fastest of the Royal Knights and possibly of all digimon.[7] He wears armor made of the light-weight, rare metal, "Blue Digizoid". His weapons and shields expand from the Digivice-like V-Bracelets that are equipped on both arms. [edit] Digimon SaversUlforceVeedramon has currently made three minor cameo appearances in Digimon Savers - the first is when he and five other Royal knights come to the aid of Craniummon against the DATS team, the second is when he is seen attacking Egypt and the third is a brief appearance after Yggdrasil is expelled from Suguru's body. UlforceVeedramon and four other Knights head to Mt. Fuji and suggest the need to find another way, Yggdrasil attacks the Knights because of this and UlforceVeedramon helps Craniummon hold the Digital World up. After Yggdrasil has been defeated they head back to the Digital World. Attacks
