[edit] Trivia
- Steve Austin broke the record for most Royal Rumble wins with his third win. The previous record of two wins was held jointly by himself, Hulk Hogan and Shawn Michaels.
- Kane broke the record for most eliminations in a single Royal Rumble with 11. He eliminated Grand Master Sexay, Steve Blackman, Al Snow, Raven, Perry Saturn, The Honky Tonk Man, Tazz, Crash Holly, Albert, Scotty 2 Hotty (jointly with The Undertaker) and The Rock.
- When Lo Down were discussing which member of the team should enter the Royal Rumble (after they had won their Sunday Night Heat match, D'Lo Brown said that he should be in the Rumble since he had been in 4 Rumbles, more than Chaz. This was a mistake, however, since he had only been in 3 Royal Rumbles previous to this one: 1998, 1999, and 2000.
- Comedian Drew Carey appeared on the show and in the Royal Rumble match to hype his upcoming Improv Comedy Pay-Per-View. He eliminated himself as after the ring had cleared and he was all alone, Kane came out and Carey fled in fear.
