Ryung doll
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Ryung is one of the female 60 cm Rainy Dolls produced by Elfdoll, a company in South Korea. She is a resin fully articulated ball-jointed doll sculpted by an artist known as Rainman. Ryung was Elfdoll's first foray into making what are considered large sized resin dolls. She was released in 2005 and has since been followed by several additional female and male Rainy Dolls in this size. Ryung is generally considered to be the sexy doll by owners and collectors of the group produced by Elfdoll. Many fans believed that Ryung was subtly modeled on actress Jennifer Love Hewitt but Rainman has insisted she is purely a creation drawn from his imagination.
There have been several versions of Ryung available since her initial release. The very first Ryung came dressed in a white button down shirt and black jeans. Elfdoll has subsequently labeled their dressed dolls as Specials but since this was the very first doll, she was simply Ryung at the time. This doll also included a gift to the buyers of an extra head with half opened eyes that is called a sleep or sleepy head.
Ryung has also been issued as:
A Standard version dressed in a one piece swimsuit with no wig.
A Special version with brown wig, a black lace dress and a gold tone necklace that spells Ryung.
A Reminisce Standard that has a completely closed eyed head (different from the gift sleep head mentioned above).
Nabee, a whitish skin tone doll with slightly closed eyes, very dramatic face painting (faceup) and a Special Korean outfit. Nabee also included tattoo decals of a butterfly that could be applied by the owner. Many people look at Nabee as a separate doll but Elfdoll refers to her as a Ryung Special.
And Sibara, a whitish skin tone doll with a standard Ryung head done with purple lipstick, reddish orange eyes and a platinum wig. Sibara was a very special edition of only 20 dressed dolls that was sold through Denver Doll Emporium exclusively.
