I've read that first sentence three times, and I don't have a clue as to what it means.

The main shift behind The Hypothesis seems to be the opinion that engineers aren't really scientists. It sin't about a "correlation observed in scientists, between subscribing to creationism and working in an engineering discipline " it's a "correlation observed in people claiming to be scientists who subscribe to creationism and working in an engineering discipline. " This is a bit POV.
