Samuel Hannaford

Samuel Hannaford was a 19th century architect who designed several major buildings in the city of Cincinnati.

Samuel Hannaford was born in 1835 in Devon, England, and moved to the United States with his family in 1844. He received training in architecture from William Hamilton in Cincinnati and opened a practice there in 1857. By the time of his retirement in 1896, his firm had become the most prominent in the city. During his career, he designed more than 400 buildings in Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana.
His firm was later called Samuel Hannaford and Sons, continued operation long after his death.
