Category talk:Science fiction by franchise

[edit] Purpose
I'm not sure I get the intention of this category... if we had say, categories of "time travel sci-fi series " and "space-opera sci-fi series" I could understand what was happening, but in this one everything is lumped together. --TimPope 9 July 2005 09:00 (UTC)
- There were a lot of specific science fiction franchises under Category:Science fiction. I was trying to come up with a better way to subcategorize them, especially the ones that appear in several different media (books, films, TV series, etc). Perhaps something like a subcategory of Category:Science fiction universes under Category:Fictional universes would work better. MakeRocketGoNow 23:38, July 9, 2005 (UTC)

- Right, got it... another name might be better but I can't think of one ;) --TimPope 23:47, 9 July 2005 (UTC)

[edit] franchise
Misuse of the word "franchise", when "series" is obviously meant. This seems to be a problem in several categories, and we've noticed the mistake growing with increasing frequency on the internet among those most reliant upon it to learn English. Wikipedia needs to not fall victim to a generation-specific misuse of a word. 12.73.196.146 01:55, 1 April 2006 (UTC)
