Gatchaman is the current tentative name for the upcoming CGI-made movie based around the TV Anime of the Same Name scheduled to be released in 2008 by Imagi Animation Studios. As of January 15, 2007, Gatchman is in pre-production stages. [2]
Kevin Munroe is scheduled to direct the film after production of the latest Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles film has wrapped up. [3]
[edit] Known Plotlines
According to some information taken from an interview with Kevin Munroe back on July 19, 2006 [4] and statements coming from Imagi Animation Studios' Vice President and CEO Francis Kao [1], the movie would contain the following plotlines:
- The movie would focus on Ken, Joe, Jun, Jinpei and Ryu, especially on how they eventually formed the Science Ninja Team before they were dispatched to hunt down the Galactor terrorist group.
- The movie would occur on the Gatchaman universe, not in Battle of the Planets, Eagle Riders or G-Force universes.
- The movie would possibly have a PG-13 rating since it would have a slight dark tone, with themes of violence.
- The producer Tom Gray said, "Yeah, and this is one we're going PG-13 definitely. This is our - we put it on the pants on this one. This is going to be a very interesting film and even maybe pushing R."
