[edit] Biography
Sean Conant (born June 18, 1982) is an Irish American artist. He was born in Brattleboro, Vermont and has lived in New Hampshire and Ireland. He bought his first camera at the age of 14. He has been a 'stills' photographer for films including "Click" (2000, USA) and the short film "Oxygen" (2004, Ireland) directed by Peter Sheridan and premiered at the Galway Film Fleadh.
In 2002 he wrote, produced, directed and starred in the short film "The Rising of the Moon," about Irish hunger-striker Bobby Sands. The dialogue is based on the actual diary that Sands secretly kept for the last weeks of his life. David Bale (father of actor Christian Bale) played the British "screw." The film won a 2003 bronze Telly Award.
Currently he is producing Portrayals, a fine art photography book of celebrity portraits. The proceeds will benefit children's charity Autism Speaks and Irish charity Puffin House. The book will include new portraits of many famous faces including Julian Lennon, Beth Hart, Noam Chomsky, Malachy McCourt, David Amram, Ed Asner, Nancy Cartwright, James Cromwell, Kevin Nealon, Fionnula Flanagan, Neil Finn, Pedro Eustache, Louise Fletcher, John Hurt, Cillian Murphy, Sharon Robinson, Stephen Rea and many others.
His photography has made the cover of the September 2001 issue of "UPDATE: On Location," an international film trade magazine.
In 2006 he photographed Julian Lennon and Cynthia Lennon for her book, John (Hodder & Stoughton, UK).
In addition to his photography work, he is also a fine musician. His eclectic catalogue consists of over 300 original compositions, touching on many genres of his influences including jazz, funk, rock, traditional, celtic, country, pop, rock, R&B and disco. His songs range in style from complex instrumentals to swinging early-American pop/rock to lengthy classical piano suites.
Some of his work can be found under the pseudonym Lancelot Lovejoy. Also, some works credited as Séan Conant.
He is the great-grandson of Roger Conant of East Budleigh, Devonshire (England), whom settled Salem, Massachusetts.[citation needed] He is also the great-grandson of Angus Livingstone of the Isle of Mull, Scotland, whom settled the south side of Boularderie Island, Cape Breton, Nova Scotia (Canada).
