Elections for the National Assembly of Senegal were held on the 29 April 2001. The elections were held under the new constitution approved by referendum earlier in the year. Following the victory of Abdoulaye Wade in the 2000 presidential election the coalition formed by his party, the Senegalese Democratic Party, won a large majority.
