- Don't agree. A Sequence Shot involves a combination of a Long Shot and a Tracking Shot -- I wouldn't consider it to be the synonymous with either. Unfortunately, I just can't think of movie examples with a stationary camera long shot at the moment. --ef
- Agree with merge. Is there a well-sourced definition of sequence shot which dictates that it must be a tracking shot? I tend to doubt it. Usually movement is added for these long takes because it is considered to be more visually more stimulating. But many films have long takes which have no movement at all - looking at long take to jog my memory, Empire, Funny Games, Gerry, Goodbye, Dragon Inn, Irreversible (the most notorious scene, no less), Sleep, Songs from the Second Floor, and Through the Olive Trees (to cite one of many Kirostami films) are all films which have static long takes. And several of them are composed entirely of scenes with only one single long take. Again, if there is a well-noted source that disagrees, then I'm game to hear it out - but based on the articles as composed and the definitions as I understand they are usually given, I can't see a good reason not to merge. If these were two fairly developed and divergent topics, then perhaps it would be worth more perusal. And even then, one could still be a subtopic of the other... Anyway, my two cents.
