[edit] Career biography
Ford first started writing seriously in High School with a novel called TimeRunner. After receiving several Sacramento City Unified School District Young Author awards, he eventually scrapped the single-novel and decided to turn the TimeRunner story into a series at a later date. While attending Sacramento City College in autumn of 1999, Shaka Ford began work on an online Play-by-mail game RPG entitled Badlands, that debuted on Yahoo! Groups in April 2001. It was while running Badlands that he began work on his first novel, Metal Rain, though he did not start officially writing it until December 2004. Intending to establish himself as a published author, he pushed to self-publish Metal Rain while retaining copyrights to republish with a major distributor later. Metal Rain was thus published in December 2005 as the first in a larger series of books entitled TimeRunners.
[edit] Current projects
Ford started writing his next novel, a novelization of the first year of Badlands, entitled Badlands: Daybreak in October 2006 as a collaborative effort with his wife, Casandra Ford. Due to the nature of Badlands as a game, and the heavy influence from countless video games, anime and other novels, he stated in his personal blog that he has no way to predict when the novel will be ready for publication. He also stated in November 2006 that he's working out plans to start a webcomic entitled Dead Tired as soon as he finds a competent artist to work with.
